VASER liposuction is an outpatient procedure that removes fat that won’t respond to diet and exercise. It uses ultrasound waves to heat up and break apart fat cells beneath your skin for easier removal. After Dr. Goyal removes the fat, the skin near the treatment site tightens.
VASER liposuction provides a gentle and incredibly precise way to eliminate fat. It breaks down fat without harming your underlying healthy tissue, so there’s no downtime or recovery period.
At Coastal Dermatology and Medspa, Dr. Goyal uses VASER liposuction to treat unwanted fat on different areas of the body, including the:
VASER liposuction can even remove pockets of fat on the buttocks.
Dr. Goyal performs VASER liposuction in-office using general anesthesia.
After you fall asleep, Dr. Goyal injects a saline solution mixed with anesthetic into the treatment area, like your stomach or buttocks. Then, he inserts ultrasound probes into your skin through a series of small incisions. The probes emit high-frequency sound waves that heat your fatty tissue, causing it to break apart.
As the fat breaks down, Dr. Goyal uses a cannula to remove it from your body. Then, he closes the incisions, bandages the treatment site, and moves you to a recovery room. Treatment takes anywhere between one and two hours, depending on the area of your body treated.
After VASER liposuction, it’s normal to have bruising and swelling. Your wounds may ooze blood or fluid for 24-48 hours. Follow Dr. Goyal’s recovery instructions, keep your incisions clean, and take any medication as prescribed. You wear a compression garment for a few weeks to keep swelling down.
It takes between three and six months for your body to completely heal. Be patient and attend each of your checkups with Dr. Goyal.
VASER liposuction is safe and usually well-tolerated, but like any minimally invasive procedure, it can present risks, including:
In the days after treatment, look for signs of infection and keep your incisions clean.
