As a full-service dermatology office, we diagnose and treat all skin diseases and conditions. There are many common ones that affect the majority of people at some point in their lives. Other conditions occur in people who have a predisposition to them, but are still fairly common. We also handle rarer skin diseases that may be more complicated to treat. Some skin conditions are simply genetic in origin, others are autoimmune (where your immune system turns on itself) or multifactorial (meaning there are many causes).
We do recommend that most people, if not everyone, should have at least a baseline skin check. There are multiple types of growths or lesions on the skin. In our practice, using dermoscopy we are able to diagnose most off them with a simple exam. Others may require a biopsy or treatment if they may be concerning in appearance or cannot be diagnosed by exam only.
There are multiple types of infections of the skin, hair and nails – bacterial, viral, fungal and yeast. We can diagnose and treat almost all of them. At times, we may have to do special testing in order to determine the type of infection and the most appropriate treatment.
This is the most common cancer of any type and affects the skin, which is the largest organ of the body. We diagnose and treat all types of skin cancers. Coming in for a skin check may even save your life! We have diagnosed melanoma in patients who simply came in for acne and agreed to have a full skin check. Many people are not even aware that they have a skin cancer such as melanoma, which most commonly presents simply as a flat dark spot that is asymptomatic.
Our skin can be affected by many environmental factors such as sun exposure and tanning beds. Diseases such as diabetes or natural conditions such as pregnancies can have significant influences on the skin. We can advise you about the skin changes or treat the conditions if required.
